Welcome to Brenshaw, North Dakota, a great place to visit and an even nicer place to live. The only problem is now might not be the best time. Brenshaw is a very isolated town, and could very well live up to the name "middle of nowhere." Brenshaw's borders go on for miles, and as the locals like to say, " if you're leaving Brenshaw, be sure to have a full tank of gas." Recently there have been some strange goings on in Brenshaw. It started out as what appeared to be riots. Someone mentioned a human version of mad cow disease, possibly caused by one of the many farms that provide beef to the local BBQ Diner. Others claim it was the ominous research being conducted in the building just outside of town that was always guarded by military men. The building had been set up a few years back, and no one in town knew by who, or why. All that's clear now is that a virus has been unleashed. A virus transfered through bites from the infected. There are also claims that the dead are returning to life. As of now, the borders have been sealed off by some branch of the military, all citizens being told to stay in their homes. Brenshaw has been effectively, quarantined. Now, with chaos prevailing, authority failing, rampant power outages, and looting the future looks dim for the once peaceful town. Whether you are a native of Brenshaw or just visiting, it looks like you're going to be here a while. Will you go it alone, or seek out others? Will you hide in fear, or choose to fight? The choice is yours, but the only real choice is survive or die. This town is going to Hell, and what you do will define what kind of person you are. Search for weapons, look for a way out, or if you're really vile take what you want from the abandon businesses and homes. Just remember when you are being chased by a horde of the living dead, you may be held accountable for your actions in the next life.
With that being said, here’s a rundown of our rules…
1. You can start off by registering then selecting a character. You can have as many characters as you want but within reason. If you currently have, say five characters with only a single important one, you will be asked to kill off one of your characters before being able to create another one.
2. After posting your stats, that’s when you can begin roleplaying. Basically what we ask from you so this does not become some cheesy zombie chase with no plot, is a small back-story or prologue of sorts prior to the outbreak. This is to give your character some depth right off the bat, so we know what he or she is all about.
3. As for the format of a typical roleplay, what you’d want to do is update us with the date, location and time at the top. The timeline is crucial in this game and it’d be best if everyone’s timeline was identical. That means that you shouldn’t be having your character go to sleep and go to the morning while another guy is having a fierce battle with a zombie at midnight. It is also advised to use a more formal writing approach as you’d see in a novel. We don’t want to see anything like:
Billy runs up the stairs
Billy: WATCH OUT A ZOMBBIIEE!
We’d rather see something like this:
”Look out, a zombie!” cried Billy as he ran up the stairs.
Of course we want to see something more creative than that but I think you get what I’m saying.
4. Try to intertwine your story with other people’s stories. The goal here is to interact with other characters so there’s no point in having a completely separate plot by yourself while the rest are implicated in the same one. We're not objecting sub-plots but try to get involved with a few other characters. We want everyone to have a relevant role.
5. Be realistic. We don’t want to see stupid cartoony characters such as Magnus the Talking Pie. Create a realistic character and plot. We also don’t want anybody god-moding because it ruins all the fun since while the majority of the people struggle to survive; the invincible guy kills a hundred zombies without breaking a sweat. Please don’t do this.
6. No changing the direction of the story without my approval. We want to take our time with this story, there’s no rush, so please don’t find the cure for the virus. While we encourage creativity, you have to keep in mind that we control the overall direction of the plot.
7. Don’t harm or kill off a character without the player’s permission.
